About the Child Health Guide

The Child Health Guide (CHG) is a multi-media tool designed to address every parent’s concern when a child is ill. The Guide quickly and clearly deals with the all-too-common questions all parents have . . .

  • Is it serious?
  • What should I do?
  • What if things get worse or don’t improve?
  • When do I call the doctor, go to the doctor’s office, or to the emergency room?

The CHG includes features actual video clips of more than 100 of the most common childhood illnesses and injuries of real children displaying real symptoms and real injuries—more than 100 in all. Organized by symptoms and cross-referenced by disease, the CHG enables parents to find critical information quickly and easily.

The video clips make the CHG extraordinarily useful and unique. By themselves, text and pictures sometimes raise more questions than they answer: What does it mean to say that a child is “lethargic?” Or that a baby shows “pallor?” Or that a cough sounds “dry” or “wet.”

The Child Health Guide focuses on the illnesses of children from birth through age 12. And it is authoritative. All material, visuals and text, have been reviewed and approved by physicians at Harvard Medical School.

The CHG is currently available on line and via CD-ROM.
